gosh, those are way prettier and more textured than the ones you find in the stores...thanks for sharing your techniques...it helps to know how you make them so lovely and professional looking...and yet charmingly handmade as well...nice!!

Oh, they are so great! Would it be crazy to make some now, for next year?  Roll Eyes I never get around to make cards etc. in the busy time before Christmas?
The jewellery-holder are clever, too - and, as Bookstorebabe said, they could easily be prettied up with some nice paper.

For sure - the same techniques could be used for making tags for other things too like banners, bunting, tags for gifts for birthdays, Valentines, anniversaries, etc

This craftalong seems right up my alley right now. I have been hoarding such random things, maybe between this and the destash craftalong my house will finally get in order.

Challenge #4: Holiday Leftovers - Do you have holiday cards?  Cans, bottles or bottle caps?  Empty wrapping paper tubes?  Mailing boxes that won't make it another year but are still good for something?  Then you're in luck!  Challenge #4 is how to use leftovers from 2013 to make something brand spankin' new for 2014!

Hey, check out this cool tute for making yarn out of plastic bags:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2mGuItifL4

I saw a lot of handbags and shopping bags in Costa Rica that were crocheted out of plastic bags, and they were always really pretty. As much as I dislike the plastic bags at grocery stores and the waste they produce, couldn't they at least be prettier colors than gray and beige?

We have yellow, red, green, blue, white and orange bags...I save all of them in a drawer at work...my co-workers also save the colored ones for me...

What a clever way to string the cuts together!  I usually cut one long piece out of each bag...I will have to try this to see which I like better!  Thanks!

Joining in. I have been doing nothing but sewing and embroidering lately and I feel the need to branch out. Not having to buy supplies is a plus too! I'm planing some gift tages for next year out of this year's cards, not sure what else though...
