Look what I am going to repurpose!

My brother found it at a yard sale and brought it to me yesterday...I could use it for it's original purpose of holding sewing notions, but I already have that under control...what else can I use it for?  Ideas?

Should I paint it or leave it as is?

I was thinking of turning it on its side (the legs are missing...) and making it into a mega shrine...hubby said he could mount it on the wall (or else it can't be open using those hinging things...)...What do you think?

ha ha I think I might like to do some sort of "story" with the final scene being the large open box...it might be the thing to get me into poly clay and making miniatures...let the agony of WIP begin!!!

That is identical to one my Grandmother had...and now we have still filled with her sewing supplies.  Anytime I need anything for a project, we check that box!  The legs on her's are still on, but they're trying to hang on!

If that were mine I would treat it like a doll house and make each section a different room.  Mine would also have a tiny garden..... just saying.  xxx

Cherie--I thought about a doll house as well, but I already have one that I have been working on for a few years...it will eventually have a garden... Grin

I spoke to my brother, who gave this to me, and told him what I wanted to do with it...he loved the idea, especially since he has been trying to "steal" all of the little things I have been collecting...I might have to glue them down if I display them...or maybe he just wants to see them instead of knowing they are in a box in the garage! Grin

I'm starting a tiny little mad laboratory box, and I am reluctant to glue anything down in it, but then I think about bumping it once it's on the wall and things going everywhere....I'm just wondering if most of the little scenes are glued down, or do folks leave them more like a doll house so things can be moved about?  This is relevant to this thread as I'm going to be using my stash, all the recycled bits I can and stuff craftsters have sent me Grin

lol I doubt if I would actually glue things down...I tend to take things apart when they no longer suit me and make something else...I have been known to frog a scarf or shawl to make them into something else...

I really need a display case for oddities...that is what I am hoping to do! Grin

I posted the question over at the mini scene swap and wonderfully amazing Ludi said to get some stuff called sticky wax from a craft store, then use a tiny bit to hold stuff down Grin

I hated the idea of glue the stuff in, but I'm also clumsy so I was equally worried about knocking it over just as I got it set up Grin

I use a similar product to keep my cats from knocking off my trinkets...they use it in museums to keep things from accidentally getting knocked over...it is like a putty, only no damage...I bet it is the same stuff!
