Around here I think they are mostly called WIPs...but I like the Un Finished Object reference myself Grin.  Anyway, I started this little wall hanging around 10 years ago I think it was?  I used a stained glass pattern from a book of fairy images.  The fabric pieces are applied to the base with Steam-A-Seam lite and then I used a scribble stitch (also called wiggle stitching I think?) to cover the edges.  Basically, you drop the feed dogs and then just make short jerky movements to get the edges to stay down.  I think it's super fun to do and I like how it looks as well.  I liked the piece, but my tastes have changed since I started it, and I wasn't feeling it anymore.  So when it recently worked it's way to the top of a pile, I was going to send it out into the thrift shop world, hoping someone would give it some love.  And THEN I learned the jillybeans moved into a new house last spring!  SO I just had to put a binding on and send it off.  I was headed to my folks in the States, so I packed it up and took it down to finish it off.  I was showing it to my mom, and she thought it needed a bit more then just the black binding I was going to do, AND she volunteered to do it as well.  SO the only thing I had to do to finish it was hand sew the binding down, and sew the pull tab hanger onto the back.  I also sewed a fine gauge wire into the top part of the binding, to help the top stand up when hung.

Thanks for looking Grin

What a beautiful piece, suereal! Such a clever idea to use a stained glass pattern. I'm glad you saved this from the world of perpetual ufo'ness Smiley.

I recognized this pattern right away, because I've always loved it.  The problem is I never wanted to mess around with actually making it in glass.  Roll Eyes  Thank you for posting this; I'm going to look at all my glass patterns with an applique eye now.

Thanks so much everyone!

I meant to mention in the original post that the bubbles are a glimmery netting, and they are squiggle stitched down with glow in the dark thread.  It doesn't show up will in the pic I think .. Grin
