For the back to hogwarts swap one of my partners favorite classes was care of magical creatures and her favorite creature was a thestral. I thought it would be fun to make her one out of a my little pony.

I actually used one of the smaller ones that came as toy in a mc donalds meal.  So it had a hard plastic tail that I carved away and its head was stationary. I was concerned about its head at first but I actually like how it turned out. It gave him a bit of a attitude

I covered it with polymer clay in stages.  Baking it each time.  Then painted him black and went back in with gray and white for highlights. I was really please with him once he was done but terrified to ship, but whooray it made it there safely.  C&C always welcome Grin

Wow, you did a great job!  I love his rhinestone eyes.  I'm surprised the plastic didn't melt when you baked it...

His eyes are actually painted and you bake polymer clay so low and a short period of time so no melting. i did surround him with rice when I baked the wings which supported himand the wings.
