I have noticed that some fabrics have "not for commercial use" on the selvage. I can understand that some people wouldn't want their patterns to be used in items being sold.
Here is my problem. A bunch of my friends know that I like using scraps in the things I am working on for my online shop. They have been giving me garbage bags worth of quilt scraps. I'm worried that I won't be able to tell if any of the fabrics are not for commercial use. While it might not be a huge deal right now, since my shop gets so few views, I still don't want to risk it for later when I become super successful (at least that is my plan)
Is there any place I can check on things like this? I don't want to just throw out all of their donations.

I wouldn't worry about donated scraps, but would stay away from obvious character prints. If you become "wildly successful", you will most likely be purchasing your fabrics in bulk which makes it much easier to identify fabric manufacturers/designers to avoid.

I've only ever seen that on licensed prints (Disney, etc), other than that it probably wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the advice CraftyChef and kjlutz.  None of them are super obviously copyrighted so I think I will use them ^.^

I was reading an article about NFL stuff. If its something that people would buy over what a huge company would make. So you cant use anything trademarked. Disney, Pooh, NFL...ect. Things like that would not be able to be sold. You can make them for yourself or gifts, but that's about it.
