I'm super excited about these new honeycomb pendants I made. I love how the light reflects off the little honeycomb pockets. To make these, I start with a clear glass tube and coil colored glass around the end of the tube to create a cone shape. I heat up the cone in the flame, making sure the heat is nice and even, then blow out a bubble. I then draw dots of clear glass onto the bubble. I blow the bubble out again then shrink it down flat to create a flat disc. I blend, shape, and thicken the piece, then add a loop to create a pendant.
Thanks for checking out my work Smiley Please feel free to ask any questions.

Here is my question: HOW CAN YOU CREATE SUCH FASCINATING WORK???

I have always loved the glass blowers at the malls, and such. These are awesome!!!! Great job.

Beautiful!
I have many questions.
Is it borosilicate glass your using? I have yet to try borosilicate but it seems to handle much better temperature differences than soft glass. I find it difficult to work on pieces bigger than a small inch as I constantly have to pass it around in the flame to maintain the heat even.
Do you have a minor torch or a bigger one?
How do you anneal the pendants. Do you hang them from the loop or can you put them on something on which they will not stick while slowly cooling down in the kiln?
How light or heavy are they? and how wide?

I use borosilicate glass and use a Carlisle torch which is pretty hefty and loud. You need a large flame when making these because you have to blow out a large bubble to draw the dots on. Before I put them in the kiln I hold onto the loop with tweezers and let it cool down. Then I stick it in the kiln and lay it on it's back to anneal. They weight about 1 oz and are about an inch wide.
Great questions! If you have more let me know Smiley

Thanks for the thorough answers. This makes me want to get rid of my soft glass and learn to play with borosilicate. I wish I could make tiny vessels and blown glass. I saw your work on etsy and I am in admiration!

A bit late to the party but those are CRAZY GOOD!

I'm just starting in boro - after a few years of 104 bead making - and am working on mastering floral implosions using rods. I can only hope to create something as cool as those pendants are, at some point. Awesome
