made this a while back for the FOC secret swap.

it all started with a lazy daisy on eco-felt...

from there i just worked on it a little bit at a time, a knot here, a chain there...

i even pulled out a nice 70's needlework book for stitch ideas, since i was using pearl cotton i didn't use any type of split stitches

this was such an enjoyable project for me, just doodling with a needle while clearing out the dvr Smiley

would love to know what you think!

"Doodle stitching", huh?  Love it.  I would never be able to guess that this wasn't planned out from the very start, the composition feels so balanced.  Somehow the orange thread on gray gives it a retro vibe to me, so I like that you went to a 70's needlework book for inspiration.

Nicely done!

thanks for the lovely compliment vincentvanbuck!  Smiley

highly recommend doodle stitching to everyone!  so fun and relaxing!  im normally very uptight about embroidering, get in a bundle about not following patterns and such, at first it was actually really difficult to not take a pen to the felt to plot it out.  in the end i resisted and i'm so glad i did, there was something very freeing about not having a pattern!

This is really, really lovely!  I'm a huge fan of just one color in embroidery.  You did such a nice job of "doodling" but it's all cohesive.  Awesome job!
