I recently did a personal swap and my side was to make 5 reusable snack bags.  The outer fabric is cotton but the inner fabric is PUL, which is water proof, and if something spills you just give it a wipe out and you're good to go.

Wonderful fabrics you found for these.  I wouldn't mind having a few myself.

I always see this kind of fabrics at the store and never knew what to do with them. They are jus perfect on your snack bags. I might make some for myself.

Those are super cute, I love the food fabrics for food stuff.

.... but I have to ask, isn't PUL not safe to use for food?  I thought ripstop was a better choice because when you use a product for food it needs to be safe to be used for food.  Just make sure it's food safe before buying as there might be more than one type.   Oil cloth is another product that is not food safe.

Another thought might be to cut apart a gallon size (freezer type because they are tougher than the regular bags) to the size you need and sew that into the fabric.   Just don't use pins to hold your layers otherwise you will have little air holes.

I make soap and other "cosmetics" as defined by the FDA and in my spare time I sew.... Sewing is therapy for me in dealing with life stresses and my chronic pain.  When I hurt and can't sew, I plan what I want to sew.  I also have a great husband, three kids and three fur kids.....

I don't think anything is safe, even plain fabrics. I just think you have to not over do anything, including snacking, except in moderation.  The snacks would probably be more toxic than the PUL in my opinion. Grin

I did research before using it and some said yes and others said no so I went with the yes.  The packing it came in has no warning about not using it for food and I figured that if it was not good for food, there would be some kind of warning.  We've got lots of commercially made reusable lunch bags in our house and their linings don't seem much different than this.
