Hey all, I want to make a cropped cardigan and add a hood to the pattern. I want to make a really large full hood though. I have very long hair (to bottom of my butt) and when I pull it up in a bun regular hoods will not cover my head.

My question is: What is the best way to decrease into the right number of stitches to match the number of stitches in the neck line? Should I just start decreasing dramatically a few rows before the neckline? I'm an inexperienced knitter and this will be my first go at adding a hood to a top. Any advice or thoughts will be much appreciated!  Grin

Yes, I think you'll decrease in the bottom row or two, but keep in mind you would probably make it longer too - more like a hood on a monk's cowl - for the extra room. This may be one of those things you may have to experiment with as you go to get what you want.
