My neice Kyndra has become a big fan of the American Girl doll series and she really wanted a doll bed, specifically a bunk bed so when her friend comes over both their dolls can use it. However if you've ever priced any of the official merchandise you quickly realize that $100-$150 is allot for a doll bed so I decided to build her one.

I'm not much of a woodworker but luckily I have a wonderful little brother who is skilled with a saw and who I was easily able to talk into helping me with the project.

I found a great tutorial online and her website even has a tutorial for the mattress pads to fit the bunk bed. If you want a bunk bed of your very own definitely check out her website.

For the bottoms of the bed to save money I just used some leftover kitchen back-splash my parents had from redoing their kitchen. It took me more lumber than the tutorial called for but all in all the entire project cost me only $18 to complete and that is a huge saving over the store bought ones.

The Back:

It definitely took us longer than than hour the tutorial maker said it took her, more like 5 hours but we also sanded each piece like crazy before staining it all with a cherry finish.

Thanks for looking!

Great job, bet the store bought didn't come with such nice bedding as yours either.
