Ron Weasley has a small owl named Pigwidgeon, or Pig for short.  Pig is a very enthusiastic mail carrier, so I thought he might enjoy some extra responsibilities.  Now he keeps track of money, too!

I covered the envelope in his beak with contact paper so you can write in dry-erase marker the reason you're trying to save money.  Once you meet your savings goal, you can wipe it off and write another one.

(I put Dobby on the stamp.)

The "envelope" is actually just a piece of paper folded around a large needle

so it can stick to the magnet inside his beak.

I made Pig by putting paper mache (papier-mch?) around an old pill bottle.  I cut the bottom off the bottle and flipped it upside down so he would have a lid in the bottom that you can remove to get your money out.

I formed his head around half of a plastic Easter egg (which I had to remove before cutting the coin slot since my knife couldn't get through the plastic).  His eyes, beak, and feet are paper, and I painted him with acrylics.

Here's a few more pictures from different angles:

That is SUCH a brilliant idea!  I love it that you made the letter into a dry-erase surface (and the stamp is such a nice touch, too).  Absolutely fantastic!

Aww, thanks, you guys!  Smiley  I had the idea to do this for the Harry Potter Craftalong Muggle Studies class (craft something to do with muggle money), and I couldn't resist the pun.  I am powerless when it comes to puns.

Oh and I meant to post a close-up of the stamp, but apparently I forgot to upload the picture earlier.  So here it is.
