I'm looking to start a wee little sweater that has a pattern suggesting a fluffy mohair yarn.  However, I have a really nice merino/silk blend that I'm itching to use (and no mohair for that matter...), and I'm wondering if that is a viable substitution (same weight/ply/etc as suggested mohair).  I know the feel will be totally different, but I'm more concerned about merino/silk being too heavy for a mohair pattern....
Really what I'm saying is I'm not used to merino/silk blends, and don't want to make this sweater only to have it weigh 1,000 lbs and be terrible =P
Any opinions?

Have you done a sample yet? Not just to check gauge, but see how it'll look. Mohair is usually knit on larger needles for its weight than the merino silk, so that may be a factor. I don't think it'll be all that heavy - I've used a similar blend and it's pretty light.
