I was paired with the talented MissingWillow in the Vintage Hallowe'en Swap and created this altered book for her. Half of the pages were removed with a carpet knife and the remaining were torn a few at a time in a circle to get some dimension in there. The Creature from the Black Lagoon needed some grass so I trimmed a few pages on his side. Then the inside and outside pages were antiqued before I glued the papercuts between the pages. This was an incredibly fun project to do even if I had to butcher my copy of The Return of Moriarty in the process!

This first picture is courtesy of MissingWillow (thank you!)

Wow. How wonderfully insane of a project. I love altered books! Your detail and dimensional effects are great! Very creepy. A great use of a book for the shadow box. Love it!

I just about fell over when I opened this!  It just blows me away.  If you have any in-process photos I would love to see them.  I own it and still can't figure out how you made it.  It's magic, I tell ya!  Thank you thank you thank you!

Thanks so much friends. This project was fun to do, minus the part of driving around and looking everywhere for the perfect book and then realizing the best one was on my bookshelf  Cheesy! My in progress pics, which are few, are stinky. Can't work a camera for anything. The process is easy to do though; just make sure you have a super sharp carpet knife for the book and new Exacto blades for the images. Other than that, the rest is glue, antiquing fluid and remembering to leave a little tab on the edge of your image so you can glue it between the pages.
You can kind of see how the images are slid between the pages:

Glad I got to make it for you, MissingWillow!
