I recently made a bunch of paper roses for a friend's wedding after-party (a smaller gathering with close friends after the formal reception).  I often go to concerts together with this friend, including a bunch with fun goofy boy bands.  When she moved in together with her husband, there wasn't room for all of her old magazines in the new apartment, so she was going to throw them away, but instead I took them off her hands with this project in mind!  The flowers took a LOT of time to make, but I'm so glad I did, because the bride and her friends loved them!

I used this tutorial: http://www.100layercake.com/blog/2011/07/22/diy-storybook-paper-roses/  (except I didn't bother with the ribbons on the back)

I cut out bits of photos of her favorite members in the magazines, and spent many hours giving myself very mild glue gun burns, finally completing 11 paper roses, which were used as center pieces on all the tables for the after party.

Here are a couple of photos of the mess I made on my floor while working on them:

And "in action" at the after-party:

They were a hit!

Thanks very much!  I still have a ton of my own magazines I need to get rid of (taking up too much space!), so I'm looking for more projects to try... Smiley

Such a lovely gift for your recently-married friend!  I've seen a fair number of paper flower blossoms over the years, but never any made out of magazine images, and the end result is quite impressive.  They're striking and visually interesting; if I was holding one, I'd be rotating it around, and peeling back individual petals, to get a look at all of the images.
