For a recent pincushion swap I crafted a little puppy dog and a basket of toys filled with toy headed pins...and yes there is a poo pin. Since I made up the pattern I of course had a few hiccups along the way. He came out too tall, legs were too long and so I took him part in bits and pieces and started over, the second time around he came out perfect. My partner was delighted.

The pins were made with polymer clay, baked and painted. I just formed the shapes over the heads of ordinary pins. The basket was crocheted from jute twine and made up as I crocheted.

arg, the hat. This was the third rendition. I made it up as I went and probably struggle more with that little gem than with the rest of the pup. I'm not sure I could even repeat the silly thing.

There is this creative concept of rapid failure. You try lots of ideas, fail often and keep trying until you start to succeed. Perfect description of crafting!
