I am so looking forward to seeing this in person, you did an incredible job. It does look like his eye, and also not.
There's a story here... let me tell it to you.

When first I saw these wonderful creations of Ludi's I thought of a dear man whose eyes have always been incredibly special to me. He is an actor of film and stage so he's able to project such emotion with his expression, that's an important part of who he is professionally and personally. So when a few years ago an incident occurred that dramatically altered his face you can believe it had a profound impact on him. He's had surgery on his eye to repair some of the damage but it will never look exactly as it did. It's difficult for me to analyze his face objectively because he is simply gorgeous to me and his eyes are of course still the window to his deep and treasured soul. But I can recognize a change in expression, something altered, and that essentially that eye, the eye Ludi so carefully and faithfully transcribed in thread, is gone. Replaced with another contour, equally expressive and beloved but different all the same.
I thought I would immortalize that lost eye and keep it safe and close to me so I'll have something of him that no one else ever will. Thank you Ludi, so much.
Is romantic, no?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, craftylittlemonkey, and you are very welcome.  It was a fun challenge.  Smiley Have you thought of a title for this work?

What a lovely back story, CLM!  I have a greater appreciation for people's eyes now that I have seen how Ludi captures each glint, wrinkle, coloring, eyebrow... Cheesy

I owe a lot to various eye painting tutorials on Deviantart.  Smiley
