Prototype for a workshop I will be teaching in November. I'm very pleased with how this came out. I want to do some variations. When I get a chance I also want to look for beads that might be used for the tentacle suckers. Octopi can do some amazing colors and patterns so there are lots of possibilities!! =^..^=

Thank you!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I'm hoping to start work on a variation today. Years ago I remember watching a program on octopi and was totally enchanted with their ability to change colors. I am a fiber artist, but first and foremost - I'm a painter. All through the show I kept saying to myself: "I want to paint that!" LOL!! Eventually I will put this together as a class on CraftArtEdu, but not until after the workshop. I designed the project for that specifically. I designed another project for them which includes doing a "skinner blend" in fiber.

I know how felting "works" but sculpted felt always makes me do a double take. This piece is kind of awesomely mind blowing.

THank you!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=

This is a Bas-Relief rather than full sculpture - I figured that worked better for a cuff.

Did a variation which took a lot longer to complete due to all the detail work.

Thanks so much!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=

I started the Blue Ringed Octopus on Friday. I put in a good amount of hours then. I worked even more hours on it on Saturday and I didn't finish it until the afternoon yesterday - so probably something like 20 hours over three days to make this one.

Both of these are terrific! Don't limit yourself to patterns that exist in nature, though. Who is to say an octopus never did it's little chameleon trick into zebra stripes? What if it was a purple and yellow zebra?

You are the creator.
