I know beading thread used for beading most of the time, but what is the difference between it and the bonded sewing thread? At Jo Anns they sell a upholstery thread that they say is "It is a bonded 3-ply nylon thread that is weather; abrasion; mildew and UV resistant" Would that work as well as beading thread?

Here is a link to the product I was talking about:

I believe the stretch is a little different, and it doesn't come pre-waxed like many bead specific threads do.

You could always give it a shot and see how you like it on a test project.  Smiley

Do you think they would be comparable strength and durability wise?

I'm not super certain for durability.

Are you comparing it more to Nymo (the kind that doesn't have a twist), or Silamide (nylon strands twisted together).

I think it would be worth a shot for a test project.  I don't know if it might be slightly thicker or thinner than beading thread, or if it would try to knot more frequently.

So, I've made a piece with the sewing thread. So far I really like it. It is a bit too thick for some of the seed bead work I might do, but otherwise I like it. How long should I stress test it before I make my final decision?
I've worn the small pendant everyday for a week now, and I've not noticed and change to it. I've even fidgited with it during that week and no change.
