Hi, I've not been around for a while, but last month my best friend passed away suddenly and I really want to make something for her son. He turns 13 this month and they were always together. I live in the UK and they are in America, so I wasn't able to make it to her memorial service a few weeks ago.

I'm stumped as to what I can create that will wrap him up in a warm hug from me thousands of miles away. A quilt sounds nice but I don't sew or have the supplies to make one. I thought of maybe an ornament he could put on the christmas tree, but I doubt there will be much celebration there this year.  I don't want to make his grief worse. His birthday is Nov 19th so I don't have a lot of time to spare!

So sorry for yours and his loss. What about keepsake box or even a donation to her favorite charity. Can you cross stitch or embroider? Maybe something with her favorite quote.

Do you knit or crochet? A scarf was my first thought. If you could somehow get your hands on some of his mom's tees, you could make t-shirt yarn to make the scarf out of. It would be like a hug from you AND his mom. If you don't you could hand stitch t-shirt panels together to make the scarf.

If you have a lot of pictures of her, a small album  about her with pictures of her would be nice.
When my big brother passed away I really enjoyed the pictures people shared of him that I'd never seen before and stories about him.
If you have a video , that would be even better.
I would have suggested a stuffed animal or pillow or something to hug but you said you can't sew.
