I've been taking advantage of my son's naps to paint another shirt. I actually tried to match the colors to some Hubble photos of the Cygnus Loop Nebula and the youngest galaxy that's been seen, I Zwicky 18. I'm a nerd. Cheesy

It's all acrylic paint mixed with textile medium, diluted with water, sponged on. Those round cosmetics sponges are perfect. I blow paint through a straw to get all the stars, and a tiny brush to make the points.

How in the galaxy did you get those colors?!

I'm trying this tomorrow. Bleaching the shirt tonight.  did you just get light colored acrylic paints or mix the dark colors with white or what?

For the dark areas (painted over un-bleached fabric), I used a dark blue and dark purple...watered down so the color is not opaque. Then, along the edges of the bleached areas, I used a medium turquoise (again, watered down) to blend the blue into the lighter spots. Next, I added a very pale blue to the center of the bleached areas and blended it into the turquoise. The pale blue is only slightly watered down as I wanted some opacity to cover the peachy color I got after bleaching. Then, I used a dark, bloody red (watered down) around the bottom of the nebula, and highlighted it with a very light pink. For the light colors, you could just mix a bit of your darker colors into white paint, though. I don't see why that wouldn't work just fine.

Thank you! No, no WIP pics for this shirt.  Cry

But, I did take in-progress shots for my latest one! It'll likely be a few days before I edit pictures and post. The color scheme is very similar to this one.
