I'm already getting the Halloween costume itch! I have a few ideas up my sleeve, but I still haven't decided on a final look. Last year, I finally realized one of my costume dreams and made a DIY sushi costume. The key to the whole thing was definitely the white packing peanuts! Once I found those (for free!), I could rest easy and work on the rest of the costume. I added wrist pieces out of felt to represent wasabi, ginger, and that plastic grass stuff that comes in take-out sushi. On to the pictures!

It was a bit of a long process to build this thing, but it was a major success at my Halloween party and it can definitely be used again. If you want to learn how I made this sushi costume, I have a full (overly full?) step-by-step tutorial over on my blog.

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed!  Smiley

Wow, so clever! So envious! I thought from the small picture it was literally food. You've done a great job. I love the wrist pieces.

That is fantastic and hilarious all at the same time. And a positively brilliant use of packing peanuts! This rocks!

You are so creative. Who would have thought of using packing peanuts as sushi rice?  You look adorable (or should I say scrumptious Wink) in the costume.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. . . . I would rather have cheese.
