I had something similar happen once. It was the Saturday (which was not a holiday!) before a Monday that was a federal holiday. I went to the main post office in my city of 150,000 people (250,000 metro area) and they decided to close on the spur of the moment. argh, so frustrating!

I'm glad that going to the post office tomorrow will not get in the way of hockey  Grin

Not much gets in the way of my playing hockey. Five days a week I'm at a rink. Watching or playing.

Sent Mare a message. I managed to mess up my knee and am laying on the couch under a bag of ice. I'll be sending late. What an embarrassing slacker I am.

The good news is that my wee quilt has spoken and once I can see straight I will have time to get it done. I will be practicing my stitches!

sent mine at the last possible moment.  I am embarrassed to say I yelled at the kids trying to get them in the car fast enough.

I am sending late, which I had a feeling was going to happen - so sorry Abbeeroad.  I'm hoping to get all the applique done by Friday night.  The funeral is Saturday & my husband is going to go camping/hunting for the rest of the weekend after that, so I plan to drop the kid-o into playcare Sunday afternoon & I hope I can finish off the quilting part.  It's all going to be done by hand (trying a new technique) but since it's a small enough piece, I'm hoping it won't be too time consuming.  The technique will be a warm up to a larger quilt I'm doing for my son (don't spill the beans if you know what I mean, sloth).   Wink

Finally finished and in the mail.  This was a very difficult quilt conceptually for me.  I really had to twist my brain around the idea to try and make it work.

I sent!  I had a little snafu in the 11th hour that required me detaching & reattaching a couple pieces & thought for sure it'd be another few days but I managed to get it all done last night & sent first thing this morning.

Maybe some of you more experienced appliquers have some tips for me on appliqueing teeny tiny circles & curved edges (pieces smaller than an inch).  I don't like felt & try to avoid it, but my efforts with regular ol' cotton were thwarted.  I ended up cheating and using fabric pens for that bit.  That's where I ran into trouble - who knew that some fabric pens don't like each other & cause colors to bleed?  Not I...Maybe I should use embroidery next time...
