For my first proper post on these boards, I'll show off my masterpiece.

Earlier this year I build an octave mandolin, which in fact could be seen as an (irish) mandolin with a longer neck. Wink

Top is Sitka spruce, back and sides are Amazone rosewood, neck is made from Honduras mahogany. Fretboard is made from ebony, bindings are flamed maple and the bracings are made from spruce and mahogany.

I'm still busy finishing it with dozens of layers of tru-oil and I will have to polish it after that. But this is probably as finished as it will get for the pictures. Smiley

So beautiful. Such a pity we can't hear it as well. I guess it must have a lovely tone too after all the lovleing care you put in to making it. Congratulations on a wonderful piece of work

Thank you very much Smiley

I do have a little clip somewhere so people could hear how it sounds. I'll have a look where I left it.
Sad thing is that I'm a lot better at building than I am at playing! Wink

This was my thought as well! It is beautiful to look at and I imagine it's even more beautiful when you can listen to it as well. Wonderful!
