Class/Challenge/House Pride: Fear Of A Name Challenge
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Abstract painting
Project Page Link (if available):N/A
Brief Description: So, I started oil painting during my summer sessions and I'm continuing this semester. As a homework assignment, we were given a list of artists and we were suppose to choose one of their paintings to paint and make our own. The first picture is my version of Mark Rothko's "White Center" I tried to do (My fear in oil painting, which is painting transparent) I actually didn't really know how to do that, so you can't really see in the painting. But the second painting, I did in school, which is working more/differently from our homework, and I had more help with how to paint transparent. I really like how it turned out! It's still abstract I think, but with a little landscape feel.

Challenge: Study of Ancient Runes
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: TARDIS Tablet Cozy
Project Page Link: N/A
Brief Description:

"Using this rune is the key to understanding the mysteries of time and the psychological importance of dividing and managing time"

TARDIS: Time and Relative Dimension in Space

Need I say more? Yes? Well, see, people assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff. The TARDIS transports The Doctor (and his companion(s)) through this...stuff. And while it may not always take them when and where they want to go, it always takes them when and where they *need* to go. Has the TARDIS helped The Doctor understand the mysteries of time? You be the judge.

Audania1, I love those pumpkin pins! I want them! I don't have a corkboard... but I would get one for an excuse to use those amazing pins!  Cheesy

I wholeheartedly agree!

In case you are wondering there are 94 days and 15 hours 'til Christmas. (my laptop home page is a Countdown to Christmas clock) so commencing Gift Planning/Frantic Gift Making shortly. But first, a non-award winning poem about my week thus far:

Flying, learning, bonding, but-

Class: Flying
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Mini Dalek
Free Pattern Link: Dalek Egg Cosy by Ellie Skene  (ravelry link)
Brief Description: One can never be too vigilant when flying.  I always keep an eye on the sky for any sign of Daleks.  That's right, Daleks!  Dalek locomotion is usually in the form of a gliding movement a few centimetres above the ground. For years Daleks were depicted as being unable to climb stairs, having to rely on smooth ground on which to travel. This was rectified in Revelation of the Daleks in which a hovering Dalek was seen briefly, and then in Remembrance of the Daleks which featured a Dalek levitating up a staircase. From 2005 various Doctor Who episodes have shown Daleks hovering and flying with ease, locomotion being imparted by anti-gravity generators. :::shudder::: So I studied the ins & outs of Daleks for my flying assignment.  This Mini Dalek is also quite handy when I'm brewing up one of my favorite potions. Cool

I added a bottom to make him a tiny stuffie.  Thinking he would be a fab ornament. Grin

Been poking my head in here and checking out all the great projects and finally have something to turn in.

Class: Astronomy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Tales of Horror Altered Book
Brief Description: I was paired with the spectacular MissingWillow in the Vintage Hallowe'en Swap and came up with this 3D book using papercuts. The front of the book, as well as 150 pages or so, was removed using a carpet knife and about halfway through the book I thought it'd be better to tear the pages out of the center in a circle. This looked much better and added much needed dimension. There are a few edges on the side to resemble grass for "Creature From the Black Lagoon" and there are a few hidden eyeballs, just for fun of course. The outside edges and inside pages were antiqued and the images were printed in sepia tone, cut out, and glued into the book. So fun!

And to fulfill requirements, the moon:

pssst...MissingWillow's pictures are better if you want to see those!
