Hi!  I've never done a craftalong before, but it sounds like fun so I'll give it a shot.  I'll be representing Ravenclaw.  Everyone's projects so far are great, I can't wait to see what you crafty people come up with next!  I have a question, though - if you post a project on this thread, can you also post it in more detail on the appropriate Craftster board?  Sorry if that's a dumb question, I just want to make sure of the rules...

I baked these to sell at a fund-raiser for our sunday assembly*. *it's .... not church. It's a weekly get together for non-believers - everyone is welcome. It happens on sunday mornings, and we have a couple of speakers who talk about philosophy, sometimes a short book reading, and a choir, and we all sing together... umm.... so, nice community of like minded people supporting each other and coming together to celebrate the good things in life.

Sounds a lot like the Unitarian Universalist church DH & I sometimes go to.  They call themselves a church, but there's no single belief system.  There are Jews who attend because there isn't a Temple in town, Christians & Catholics who believe, but don't agree with some portion of traditional Christian ideas or doctrine, Buddhists, Pagans, and every other religious background you can imagine.  We get together and sing songs (frequently about peace, or the Earth), and have various speakers who deliver what would be called the sermon elsewhere.  But the talks are frequently about philosophy, social justice, economic justice, and environmental issues.  There's usually question & comment time afterwards, where you can respond to the speaker. (I've even heard little old ladies get up and tell the speaker they were "spouting pure rubbish!")  Then we have tea/coffee & cookies.  You don't have to believe anything specific to attend, (not even in god/higher power) except that every person is entitled to worth and dignity.  Which is a rather Potter-like ideal in my book.  If you're ever in the States, you might enjoy a visit to a UU assembly.  (Though I know there are UU's all over the world too, and certainly many in the UK.)

I totally agree - that sounds exactly like the UU "church" my husband and I tried out.  It was a little too far off the ledge for our comfort (we were raised Lutheran and Catholic) in terms of not having ANY structure or tradition at all but it was a really great group of people and some really great discussions and whatnot.

On the crafting front, I am trying to wrap up some of my swap stuff before I can delve in but hopefully after tonight I will have at least one project done!  Yay!!

Hi Magpirate! Grin ~*Welcome to Hogwarts*~  Yes, you can post your project in its approriate Craftster board as well as in any craftalong....in fact, we encourage that.  And there are no "dumb" questions; questions are just paths to knowledge. Grin

That UU church sounds pretty cool, as far as churches go.

Dolphin Girl Your lion is awesome!  I think eyes are really hard to do, and your lion's looks great! Cheesy

Mad Quilter I love your block!  You must be a very patient person.  Precision is hard for me. Tongue

Nicajeanie I like Amy Grant, too!  Great collage!    Your bracelet is gorgeous!  And I love your pennant and "Where Am I", too. Smiley  That last one makes me think of Mrs. Weasley's clock. ^_^

Netchez I adore Hello Kitty.  You did a fabulous job on that hat! Smiley

TechnicolorAquahear ts - Oh my!  Those cakes look soooooo good.  And your ghosties are adorable! Smiley

I spent some time in the dungeon with Prof. Snape (and yes, I did find that highly distracting!) and I managed to finally finish up these pads.  There were 3 more in the batch, but I had to snap them up early this morning and send them off with dd #2!

Class: September Detention
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Padtastic!
Project Description: As my 16 yo said, "I never knew periods could be so pretty!" Cheesy  It was time for new pads here, and this pattern is amazing.  I started these last month, and then they sat around waiting for snaps. Tongue  Today I snapped them all up, and I also unstitched and smoothed a few that were a tad "bunchy" to make them all smooth, as they should be.  I guess I must have gotten in a hurry near the end of this 28 pad sewing jag.  Roll Eyes
