Un-Advanced Studies Friday Sunday Update

I started 5 bracelets over the course of the week, and they are still in-process.  Yesterday I started & completed 5 different bracelets.  And today I started & completed 2 more, then set up some others.  So that brings my total to 36 bracelets completed for my NEWT.

63 days and 44+ bracelets to go.

In other news I completed the 10 in-progress bracelets for my NEWT on Saturday, and created 6 more "from-scratch" today.  (Ie., I created them start to finish, as opposed to completing something that was already in-progress.)  3 for my NEWT, and 3 that will be Class Projects.  That brings my total to 26 bracelets completed for my NEWT.

69 days and 54+ bracelets to go.

Class: History of Magic
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: HP Bookmarks!
Project Page Link: Not my design or anything but this is where I found the bookmarks to print out.
Brief Description: A very quick craft (but it did take me the required 30 minutes). I just starting re-reading the series (yet again) and I wanted to have a pretty bookmark to keep my place. I did some searching and found these awesome bookmarks. I actually made four but one of them was a repeat I made for Mr. Whistlefish. They definitely were inspired by Hogwarts (sorting hat, Gryffindor, Potions Class, mail time...) Glad I got to use my laminator for something. (Side note: If anyone has good ideas of what crafts I can make utilizing a laminator message me and let me know! I feel like there's a lot of possibility there that I'm just not using.)

The Weekly S.P.E.W. Review

With a flutter of wings and a screech or two,
This Weekly Report is delivered to you!
Support Caring Causes and the bringing of smiles,
Sending love out over thousands of miles!

The Weekly Review, (although it spells Spew)
Is sent to encourage and not sicken you.
So earn your house points and relax for a while,
Sharing the crafts made in your unique style!

Hello again, Gentle Readers!

This week we (finally!) catch a glimpse of Slytherin Caring crafts with the addition of ErinAquahearts' collge class lead in the hospital. Great work, Erin! The healers at St. Mungo's do stand by the idea that giving and creating are good for the mind and soul, I hope that you experienced some of that while leading the class.

Gryffindor Pinkleo has wowed us all once again with her heart-felt baby 'ghan of hearts for parents grieving the loss of a baby. It's beautiful, Pinkleo and for a very good cause.

Ravenclaw's Netchez worked up an adorable owl stuffie this week- he's so cuddly looking! Good work!

And the Hogwartian hitting the post button most often for caring crafts yet again this week is Hufflepuff Midkiffsjoy with a total of 10 posts. Amazing!

Thanks for taking the time (and supplies) to make something for others this week, HPC Peeps.  I myself have managed to get one half of a pair of somethings done for S.P. today... I'll be able to post them later this week to get Slytherin a few more points.

Happy Crafting, everyone!

Class/Challenge: ***SPEW Mission*** for the Aquahearts!
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Totally Rad Awesome 80's Cartoon Stamps!
Project Page Link: none
Project Description: Thought since Erin seems to like many of my favorite things from childhood, I'd whip up a couple of simple character stamps to send over to her!  I also made a Care Bear one but my wand seemed to be suffering from some kind of malfunction and it didn't work out.

Class/Challenge: Bertie Bott's - Lobster
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: The Best Thing About Home
Project Page Link: none
Project Description: Decided to finally do a pillow I've been wanting for forever.  Not only is it red, but the fact is that while I love my family, home for me is definitely my husband.  So here's to a lot more years of making out!  Cheesy  It is totally needing some touchups and cleaning which I'll do but at least the stenciling is done!

I received a participation package at the end of last term. Whistlefish sent me a whole stash of goodies to keep my creative switch turned on. Thank you so much!!

There is truly too much here to list before I leave for work, but I love this stash to pieces! The colors are just right, and the prince and princess stamps are so cute!!! Thank you <3

If I get my Lobster Bean project done today, I can still get credit for it, right?  Working on it now...

We generally accept Bean submissions until Monday evening.

First of all for those of you keeping up with ErinAquaheart's situation: We found out that her cancer has spread to her liver and that her initial diagnosis of stage three was wrong she is actually in stage four.

I'm so sorry to hear this dear.  My thoughts and good wishes are with you all.

Wow!! Everyone made such wonderful things!!

I love the drawings, they're beautiful!! I could never get my color pencils to look so smooth! How was this done?

WhistleFish: I love those bookmarks! Smart of you to laminate them!

Nicajeanie: The little sea clips are soo cute! How do those perler beads work??

rockmygypsysoul: Is it hard making those stamps?

I'm loving making stamps but right now I'm working with soft materials - erasers!  Cheesy  Seriously, they work just as well in my experience and they'll crumble a little sooner than regular stamps if you're too rough with them.  But they're way easy to carve as are the speedycut easy stamping rubber.  I've been working with lino a little as well but I think I'll get better at that as I get better with using the cutters.
