What does the other side look like? My first thought is a flower maker like this.

Flower looms for this kind of thing https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=877&q=flower+loom&oq=flower+loom&gs_l=img.3..0l10.1355.3392.0.4435.11.10.0.1.1.0.77.736.10.10.0....0...1ac.1.26.img..0.11.749.xK6waGVQ1EY

There is no hole in the center.  Just that handle.  When you turn the handle, those little "spikes" either come out, or go back in.  So, the other side, is solid.

Ah, so it is a flower loom!  Very cool.  I think I'll add them to my "give away" supply stash then.  I picked them up at a garage sale, because I thought they were neat looking, I didn't know what they were, and I thought surely somebody at some time might want them.  Smiley

I've got two of the old fashioned metal ones which I've never used but won't pass on as they belonged to a dear friend who is no longer around.

I've seen the metal ones before.  Didn't know what they were then, either.
