Yes!  Lot's of people do that.  You can make a quilling tool by splitting the point of a toothpick - It works really well.

great! good to know! i have a lot of toothpicks! yippee! that means i can try it sooner! just have to ask my aunt if i can use her paper shredder lol. msg me any time! it is nice talking to you! Very nice work. I've been quilling over 50 years and I'm still learning new things. This is quite simular to a Sun Pendant I made a while back. Thanks for sharing.

congrats on being featured! so deserving! i still want to give this a go! i pinned a bunch of things to help me learn from your site, just been busy with swaps atm but i will totally give it a go! there are some anatomical quillings that are so neat i want to eventually try making some of those too if i can!
