Here's something I just got out of the kiln.

I've been playing with layering colors. I'd love to know what you think. Smiley Constructive criticism welcomed.

Like it! It's fun and whimsical, and the fish is great in black. Really pops. Smiley

This piece is really fun!  I'm curious to know how many firings this takes you?  Also - I'm terrible with pics, about what size is this piece? Lovely work.

Did you stamp or paint the fish?
The bowl is lovely, if I had money I would be begging you to make me a set.

The black and grey and white and realness of the fish against the whimsical blue and white of the bowl is interesting.  It also looks like the fish is swimming around the bowl.

Thanks for the lovely comments!

Did you stamp or paint the fish?

I painted the entire fish black and then went back in and carved out the white areas. It's a technique called sgraffito. You can think of it sort of like scratchboard.

I'm curious to know how many firings this takes you?  Also - I'm terrible with pics, about what size is this piece?

It's a small plate. About dessert plate sized.

It just took the regular 2 firings. I did all the colors with underglazes on unfired clay. Then it was bisque fired, glazed with clear glaze, and glaze fired.

Thanks, SiFi Mom. Smiley

If you're interested in the techniques, I can elaborate. Just let me know.
