I wish I would have thought of that before I threw it away.  the corner where I started could have made a neat abstract patch, but it's gone now, so it's not happening.  that's part of my problem; I have anger issues, so I sometimes act irrationally.  I used to be able to draw.  it was nothing fantastic, and people were in no way on my list of things I could draw, but at least I could draw animals.  years later, I tried to draw again, and nothing went right.  so I ripped the page out of my book, crumpled it up, and threw it across the room.  it's worse now; if the first line doesn't look right it gets thrown across the room.  and because of this, I don't draw anymore, unless it's just some sketch thingy that doesn't need to look good.  I just need to know a rough idea of what something should look like so I can use stuff to bring it to life.  a good example is a shadowbox I want to make.  all I had to do was get a layout of what I wanted to do so that when I go to make it, I know what should go where.  basically I use it as a way to remember how I want to make something without having to actually remember (since I am so forgetful).  my drawing is not meant for people to see, so this mess I made on paper will be tossed once I make the shadowbox.  if things don't go well with this project, I'll be tempted to do the same.  but I will try my hardest to not throw it away and see if I can make it into something else.

I can identify with the drawing thing, Krafty.  I never try to draw for a finished work, just little rough stick figures to plan things, though I used to be pretty good 100 years ago in art college...can't draw worth a darn now....   Tongue

I've started on my entry for the flash mob. I'm alternating between that and my research project. I'm giving myself the deadline of next Sunday for both.

My students all think I draw very well, but my drawings are very basic (and forget about any proper perspective). My sister is an artist, and she is very good, so I compare myself to her. One of my students recently complimented me on a diagram I had drawn for class, and I said it wasn't very good compared to my sister. And she replied, "You can compare yourself to someone who is good, but that doesn't mean you're not good!" Pretty astute for a 12 year old!

So, sometimes we are our own worst critics...

As the sister who can draw I will say, everyone can draw. You just aren't mastering the style you want to draw in yet. LOL! My Mom can draw too. She was an Art teacher for many years. She doesn't like the style she draws in still. I love it. She is sketchy and I have a hard time being sketchy.
Embrace your style! Picasso did.  Wink

I'm not a fan of my drawing style either.  I always find myself trying to achieve life-like because I admire it so.  But I need to aim for simple.  Or maybe just someplace in between that.

That said, I'm improving, so that's a plus.  Wink  Keep moving forward!  Loved "Meet the Robinsons!"  Cheesy

Lately most of my projects are for swaps, so I'm holding off on posting them, but this weekend I plan to work on my Flash Mob, which is for me and is both nerdy and wordy!   Smiley
