Battle/Challenge: September Battle (Shakespeare)
Team:  Randomizer
Bonus Points:  N/A
Project Name:  Shakespeare quote cards
Brief Description:  I liked stefaniegk's idea in the Summer Nerd Games to make note cards with quotes on them.  I decided to pick out some Shakepeare quotes, and find a use for some of the pretty handmade papers I picked up a while ago.

Project Picture:

And my favorite:

I see the perforated edges on the decorative papers are really visible in the photos.  They are not really noticeable in real life, but now it is bugging me so I will probably fix that before I use them.  Smiley

Battle/Challenge: September Battle: Shakespeare vs. Dickens vs. Austen
Team:   Team Multimedia
Project Name: Shakespeare Quote Embroidery

Brief Description: I embroidered Pucks final speech from A Midsummer Nights Dream onto cotton with a floral motif underneath. I created the pattern in word and then printed it out on a sticky water soluble paper. This project had a major set back when it ended up in a cup of rose colored tea. Its a Christmas present for a friend who is a middle school Drama/English teacher.

Augh! Had a project for the battle and then didn't have time to post it last night.... Cry

Ah well, perhaps it will find use in the future.

I am totally digging that skirt!  And that is some amazing embroidery!

hm...I think I know who won September's battle....Excellent entries, everyone.

The aluminum I stamped was purchased at home depot. I think it was a long strip that my husband cut and shaped into stamping templates. I've tried a lot of different stamping mediums, but the aluminum is easiest for me.

SenatorOrgana, fantastic Ren Faire garb! I love the fabrics you chose- so rich looking!

Smeddley, I think I would just have to traipse around the house all day wearing that skirt. Just the right amount of ruffle, and the brown shades keep it from screaming "too girly!!" Smiley

LovelyMiss, excellent note cards! A friend of mine gave me one that used the under the star quote as an example to "borrow" for a baby card. I love how the background papers you used give it a more sophisticated look!

stefaniegk, I am impressed that you embroidered all of those letters so neatly! I thought the quote was just printed and only the floral motif was embroidered. Wow!

Abbeeroad, I'll have to look for some aluminum the next time I'm at Home Depot, and then figure out how to cut it. I have a Dremel tool... I wonder if I could use that (wearing proper protective gear, of course!)?

Ezri_B, good job on getting the color of those cookies to match the Starfleet uniform gold! They look pretty tasty, too Smiley

Love the cookies, Ezri_B! Totally could see that as a cake, too! Awesome.

craftADDchick - I'm so power tool illiterate. I'll ask hubby what he used. I'm pretty spoiled that he is so skilled in the garage.

OK, so hubby says he used...a long flat bar, cut to length with chop saw, bench grinder to shape round corners, drill press for holes, and wire wheel to texture. Hope that helps?
