I'm spinning my first sock yarn! I combined a rainbow merino/silk batt with a rope of rainbow merino/silk/bamboo top into rainbow rolags. I'm splitting each rolag in half, one half for each sock. Chain-plied on the fly, and I'm about a quarter of the way through.

What fluffy goodies are you guys working on?

That is an amazing shot right there. It looks like so much fun! And so smooth, too. Lucky lady. Do you already have a sock pattern for this or are you going to wait and see what your yardage is?

Still spinning, getting better.

These were bulk roving samples- a mix of silk and merino? maybe some camel the lady wasn't sure. But it was fun. There is 48 yards of the purple and 146 of the blue.

Do I have to stop buying yarn now?

I still buy yarn, naja, but then again I don't use my handspun like I should. I made it, I'm done with that project, right? So I say no, keep on buying. I really like your blue, though. It's so pretty!

Oh, Naja, isn't silk-merino so niiiice?

And Jexxi, you flatter me too much! I'm just going to do my standard toe-up basic sock with mitred heel. I've learned it well, and I think I can make it work for this yarn.

Hey guys! This is my very first plied yarn, blue merino plied with pink merino (roving from Etsy).

I joined a spinners and weavers guild this last week, I'm hoping it will improve my skills. A very nice lady from the guild is going to give me a wheel lesson tomorrow, then let me borrow one of her wheels so I can see if I like it. <-- who am I kidding, IF? I know I'm going to love it!

Alexus -- those looks like boxes of candy!  So pretty!  You'll have to post pics of the socks when they're done.

Naja - both of those yarns are really pretty.  Such rich colors.  I have a dirty little secret that once in a while I enjoy using store-bought acrylic yarn, of all things!

Polly, your yarn looks so squishy.  How great to have someone to lend you a wheel!!  Enjoy it!!
