Craftster has always been a source of inspiration and it has challenged me to not only get better at the crafts I typically do, but to continue to experiment with new ones, too. So, instead of posting a craft over in my comfort zone board of crochet, I decided to post an entry to the 10th Anniversary Challenge here, instead!

This is a quote by Jules Verne that I thought might be appropriate to hang in my science classroom, if I can find the right frame (I bought a "float frame", but I'm not sure if it'll work the way I want it to). I designed it using the Silhouette Studio software and it took a few hours to get it to set up so that it was all connected. I did have to go in and do some cuts by hand (I guess I need a new blade), but the majority of it was cut with the Silhouette (so it's not as impressive as if I had cut the whole thing by hand). Nevertheless, I still love it! It's hard to tell in the photo, but the cardstock is a shimmery, coppery, bronzey, brownish color.

Wow, that's really cool. I've never worked with that software. I might have to check that out!

The "weld" feature is my new best friend! And, if I had to do an infomercial for any product, it would be for the Silhouette. I've used it for so many projects, and I've only scratched the surface for what it can do. And, they just came out with a kit for cutting your own stamps. Can't wait to get my hands on that...

It's a bit pricey, so unless you win one (tons of blogs have giveaways all the time), you should start saving and wait for a sale (they happen pretty often). I love mine so much that I upgraded to the Cameo and gave my original Silhouette to my sister.

Once I get around to checking the status of my color printer, I'll be playing with the "print & cut" feature. I can design something in the software, print it on the printer, then feed it through the Silhouette and it'll cut it out properly... it prints registration marks and then uses them to line up the blade for cutting afterwards. Very cool...
