The Squirrel's end pub is fabulous. I love the tiled roof with its dormer window.

The Tim Burton inspired one looks great but it's a bit hard to see upside down. I'm not sure it's safe to make a hand stand to look at it. Could you post a picture of the house roof up so we can really admire all the work that went into it. Or maybe, I have missed something and it is intentional?

I think the swap mods are slacking...flip that Tim Burton house so we oldsters don't have to crane our necks to see!! Grin

I love the colors and the wee trees!

Oh, and the miniature of Squirrel Inn is adorable!  I would love to know how to do the dormer as well!

and, while I admire the other "hoods"...here is the first house in my hood, Cypress Farms! My partner was the fabulous kosmicgirl...and the wee house made it all the way from Germany!!

At first panic set in...whoa, instructions! and what the heck is in that little baggie?

Flat as a pancake...can I do it?

No worries...may I present "The Observatory"!!! Notice the lovely barrel roof!!!

The back--love the clock!

One of the sides; teeny stars! ha ha:

And, this made me laugh so much...adult beverages and tiny houses really DON'T belong together! Grin

Thank you for such a fun and interesting little house...I just adore it! Thanks for swapping with me, kosmicgirl!

I have been trying to flip it, but although it looks fine after I flip it, when I use the new code, it still shows up upside down! I did my best. Sorry.

Meanwhile, I love all the variations on the little houses! Dormer windows! Telescopes! Great job, everyone.

bushbaby made a wonderful house from Scotland, the land where I plan to retire!
I have pics in abundance but my camera broke about 10 minutes before opening the package...arg!!!!! So here are nasty pics from my camera. Bushbaby, pls repost if you have better (hope you do.)
Unassembled

Scottish tablet yumyum (well, of course it has a bite out of it!!)

Balancing act during glueing time

I will do whatever it takes to make this glorious house come out right. My left thumb does not work, so I did not get the roof perfect...

Done! Soooo bummed that you have to wait to see the awesome watercolor details (hint hint bb!!)

Think it sooo interesting that the wee wall goes only 3/4 of the way around. Artistic or realistic?

I actually sighed when I looked at all the stonework. Makes me long for the days when I was a youth in Scotland

Windows are not perfect which makes them absolutely perfect if ya know what I mean.

Thank you so much, bushbaby. I ADORE this gift!!

I am reeeally loving ALL of these little houses. Awed by the observatory! Amazing.

I love that Squirrels End Pub!  How did you do the dormer window?

The dormer window was quite easy, but I am not sure I can explain it well. Here goes:

I made a triangle for the front of the dormer, and it had a tab on the bottom of it, and a tab on each of the angled sides.. The roof and wall of the main house is one piece, with the roof simply folded down from the wall, but the shingles I added created the overhang, so on the fold I cut a slit just big enough for the tab before shingling.

I tucked the tab on the bottom of the dormer into the slit, and glued the tab to the inside of the house, so that it would stay put and stand up straight when the main roof was folded back to its proper angle.

The roof was a small triangle, shaped to fit the dormer, and it had two tabs on the back side.

She had to fold down the two tabs on the sides of the dormer, and glue the roof to those. Then, when the house was assembled, she had to fold in and glue the tabs that were on the dormer roof, to the main roof.

You can see the little dormer roof in this picture, and the tabs she had to glue it to on the dormer bit that I had already attached to the house.
