- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: NO

- If within the US, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES
- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES

THE DETAILS:

Finish that puzzle you started last round or start a new puzzle. You purchase or re-purpose a jigsaw puzzle - it can be wood or cardboard - and send 2 pieces to each of your four partners. You can send two random pieces or two neighboring pieces. You choose the theme or themes, or select "Artist's Choice" and your two pieces are returned to you painted, decorated, embellished and fabulous! Think ATCs or inchies - just in a different configuration. Puzzle pieces can be challenging to alter, but the sky is the limit.

This is open to international partners. So if you are partnered with an international person, I may change or extend the send-out date to accommodate for each country's postal services. Please pack/send your pieces with more than just a plain paper envelope, especially after altering. Pieces should be protected with a small piece of bubble wrap, that styrofoam-y sheet stuff or maybe just a greeting card and reinforce the envelopes as necessary.

While waiting for partners, you should:

1. Buy or choose a puzzle.

2. Assemble and number the backside of EACH piece.

3. Decide if you want the pieces facing the same way or all over the place. Add arrows to backs of pieces to indicate which direction. (On the questionnaire, I will ask if your pieces are one direction or any direction).

4. Choose your theme or themes.

5. Prepare your pieces.  Some people just mail them as they are; others sand them a bit and add some gesso to make a clean slate.  Its up to you.

6. You can write a letter to include with your pieces and make your wishes known - glitter or no glitter, 3-D or no 3-D, words or no words, whatever guidelines you have for your finished pieces. You can also say "Artist's choice with an ocean theme" or "Artist's Choice" - this means each partner will decorate/alter the pieces in his/her own way and you will have a puzzle with a random look.

7. Remember, you will send out your pieces to each partner for altering. It's a good idea to copy or trace pieces before sending out if anything goes missing.

PROGRESS FOR THIS ROUND
This round each swapper will be notating her own progress on sending/receiving in their own post at the start of the gallery.  In order to keep this organized, after you send the questionnaire and are added to the swap, you will receive directions for beginning and upkeeping your own progress post in the gallery.  This is in addition to PMs, but please do not slack on keeping your progress post updated.

Example Progress Posting

At the start of the swap, your posting should look like this:

1.   All Blanks Sent
2.   I Received Blanks From
3.   I Received Blanks From
4.   I Received Blanks From
5.   I Received Blanks From
6.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to  DC
7.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
8.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
9.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
10.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
11.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
12.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
13.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...

As the swap progresses, you should change the color of any statement that becomes true.  For example, if I have sent all my blank pieces, I would change the color (by highlighting the text and using the "Change Color" part of the toolbar) of Number 1.  And if I received one set of blanks, I would also put in the swapper's name and highlight that.  Then my Posting would look like this:

1.   All Blanks Sent
2.   I Received Blanks From ILoveToSwap
3.   I Received Blanks From
4.   I Received Blanks From
5.   I Received Blanks From
6.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to  DC
7.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
8.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
9.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
10.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
11.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
12.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
13.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...

As you and your groupmates begin to craft and send back, the bottom part of your list will also become colored.

1.   All Blanks Sent
2.   I Received Blanks From ILoveToSwap
3.   I Received Blanks From CraftingIsGreat
4.   I Received Blanks From AlteredPuzzlePieces 4Ever

5.   I Received Blanks From
6.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to ILoveToSwap.  DC 409823948230
7.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
8.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
9.   I Altered and Mailed Pieces Back to DC
10.    I Received my Completed Pieces from CraftingIsGreat
11.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
12.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...
13.    I Received my Completed Pieces from...

In order for your part in the swap to be complete, your list should be very colorful.

I haven't joined an altered anything swap yet, but I've made lots of inchies and this looks like lots of fun!  I'd better jump in before it fills up! Off to fill out my Q!

One more tip (from experience):

Grab a small box or basket to keep the incoming pieces and envelopes in when they arrive.
It's easy to lose pieces if your desk looks anything like mine. This way I always know where all the info is for each person's pieces and as I clear off a space to work, I can add small bits or scraps of paper that I think I might use for the pieces.

I looked through my pieces last night and I'm so happy to be adding more to the mix.

Oh and I forgot to add, you can swap in more than one group - Shoot me a PM if you want to swap in two groups and I'll add it to the questionnaire now.

I am excited about this...although a bit nervous.  It's my first altered swap & this isn't my usual type o' crafting...But there are such neat pieces in the gallery, I had to give it a go.

This is really tempting... part of me thinks it would be fun to use a puzzle of the US states and send everyone their own state (or another that meant something to them...) Of course, it would be tough to ever finish the whole thing that way... especially with international swappers in the mix!

Nolansmomster, as a Canadian I'd totally just rock out my basic knowledge of a state. Colorado? Weed is decriminalised, and South Park is set there. Tennessee? Country music! (Plus my girlfriend grew up there). Wisconsin? Cheese! Also a really good football team.

Before I can sign up I have to find my half done puzzle. I can't even remember what theme it was.  Undecided
