So i am really just starting out with needlework (I've been doing cross stitch and counted cross stitch for ages) and i am just trying to figure out how you color in an area. I get the outlining part but i see all these girls he'dprojects where it looks like the colored the fabric instead of stitched iit and I'm just having a hard time figuring out how that is done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

You can color it with crayons or with watercolors or you can do a fill stitch with a satin stitch, seed stitch or various other stitches.

With tinting, you are basically coloring in your embroidery. I suggest that you do the coloring first instead of stitching first.
