As part of the recent apron swap (what a fun swap!) I made this apron for carolmb. The fabric came from a curtain valance on sale at Christmas Tree Shop, the source of many interesting fabrics! Curtains make great skirts, aprons and more. They are cheap and I paw thru the sale bins often.

The doll was just sitting around and I made an apron for her (it picked up her colors) from a scrap, and then I just couldn't help but send her along! They both got recipes in the pockets!

Thanks for your tip on using curtain valances! Did you use two valances? What a good idea!  I love that print!

What a cute dolly as well...you should post it in toys!  Her hair is wonderful!

No, I usually use one plus some complimentary fabric. If you are making 1/2 aprons, you can sometimes get two out of one valance. It's a challenge using the best parts of the curtain for the apron sometimes. I like the kitcheny prints they put on the valances. I have also taken full panels and made skirts or once I made Halloween costumes out of ghastly black and gold curtain panels. It was perfect.
