Willing to personal swap for art of my doggies!

I made this little beady eyed birdy for the One Tiny Bird Thing swap.

My partner's first name is Robin and listed as a want, robins.  I found this 3D beaded pattern and decided to make one for her.  It was a necklace pattern, and I made some adjustments to make it to hang from a small hanger instead.

He is actually the third incarnation.  I made one from regular seed beads first, with the right colours, but wondered if making it from Delicas would give it better structure, even though it was worked in the round.  I felt it did, but the colours weren't right, so off to the bead store I went.  Such hardship  Wink

Finally I ended up with this little thing.

I added a couple of larger 8/0 beads to the back of the wings, added chain, and made a hammered wire hanger for hanging the bird

He even has wee little feeties!

I quite enjoyed making him.  I feel like I have just not been doing enough beading lately - maybe I will make a bunch of cardinals in this way for Christmas?

I love him!  Cheesy
The size 8s in the wings give a nice texture.   I have a little beaded chicken from Chicken, AK, and I believe it is stuffed with part of a clear plastic baggie all folded up and stuffed inside.  (I didn't take it apart, but tried to peek to figure it out.)  That might make the bird breast puff out a little more and round out his head.

I really adore his little feet.  You chose great robin colors too.  I love a trip to the bead store for a project.  Wink

I can't wait to check out your cardinals too!  You should do male and female pairs!   You could even bead a little holly branch with berries that they can be perched on!

Where did you find cool bird patterns like that?

Seriously though, great job! Smiley

Thanks everyone - as for the feeties - it's because I love him from his little beaky to both his little feeties!

I love 3D bead work, and this is so intricate! I love all of the details you added, and it definitely turned out perfect! I've tried several 3D animal patterns, but definitely nothing like this. Maybe one day I'll get the nerve to try something like it. Thanks for sharing this cute little guy. Smiley
