I was trying to come up with my own Harry Potter game where you could be a Hogwart's student and go to classes but that was turning out to be quite complicated-- to invent a game that was fun but not too easy or too hard.
Then I realized the colors of the original sorry game just happen to be the same colors as the four Hogwart's houses--so I decided to "Potterize" my Sorry game!  You have to get all 4 of your students into their common room first to win.  I wanted it to have that old marauder's map look so I used darker colors and shaded with brown.  The board is supposed to be the inside of Hogwarts castle.  There is a portrait guarding the entrance to each house so only students who belong can get through to the safety zone.  The starting point is a set of castle doors.  Each house ghost is floating around and is labeled Marauder's map style.  I also drew all the lines using repeated words just like on the marauder's map.  The colored "slides" from the game are painted to look like the moving staircases so it is like a shortcut through the castle.

(Hufflepuff)

(Ravenclaw)

(Slytherin)

(Gryffindor)

The students are made out of wooden spools and wooden beads for heads.  I wanted to use those little wooden peg people at the craft store, but I had to use what I already had.  The girls have buns and ponytails made of clay (so cute!).  They are all painted wearing their school uniforms and robes.

    ROCKS!  So creative  Grin

When we play Sorry, our family always has to play our individual house colors.  This would be so fun to do!

Love it, what a great idea! Did you paint the house crests or use printouts/decoupage? I can't tell from the pix, but either way it is amazing Smiley

This is great!  Some friends and I wanted to make 'something' Harry Potter-ish for another friend of ours and this is perfect.  Thanks so much for the idea!  I hope ours turns out as well as yours.
