I feel like every project I've posted here has been a first attempt at a new craft!
I've crocheted, knitted and sewn for years, but I guess I'm in a phase of trying new things  Tongue

Anyway, I recently bought a set of felting needles, and have been fooling around with them at work. This is my first attempt at anything more than a blob, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I have been seeing you everywhere, communist. Welcome to the felting boards! That flower looks lovely. You just used wool yarn? How clever! I can't wait to see more!

I jump around to everything that catches my attention  Cheesy

And actually, I know it's against the rules of felting, but this is just an acrylic yarn. It's what I had at my desk at the time (call center work, and boy are we dead at this time of year!), so I figured it was worth a go!

Very pretty!!!  Cheesy

Acrylic fiber doesn't "felt" because it lacks the scales present on natural fibers such as wool and alpaca. You can, as you have done, share enough fibers back and forth between the layers of the yarn to cause them to stay together.
