Hi, craftsterers. Long-time reader, second- or third-time poster. I hope the low number of posts doesn't make this question inappropriate!

My daughter is turning 14 in a couple weeks and wants to have a DIY party, where she and her friends have a variety of crafty projects they can work on all afternoon.

My question for you is this: If you were a 14-year-old with 10 girlfriends and, say, $20 for supplies for everyone, what kind of DIY project would you do?

(Assume we have some basic crafting tools at our disposal - glue guns, scissors, sharpies, an oven, a printer, etc.)

I'll come back and post photos after the event Smiley

What about a jewelry/accessory party.  Beads, embroidary floss, leather thongs, barrette clips, headbands,  glue, felt, glitter, fabric flowers, gimp, whatever so they can make bracelets, necklaces, hair accessories, etc.

Or some plain white/unbleached cotton shirts, scarves, bandanas,  bags, paint, fabric medium, brushes, stencils, and let them paint their own item.  Or tie die.  Or coloured Sharpies, and acohol to do drip pcolouring with sharpes.  Or dark shirts, or coloured cotton and do bleach stenciled shirts/scarves.

What about a spa day.  They can make their own bath salts, bath bombs, flavoured lip balms to take, and you could have stuff there for them to do their own facials, man/pedis, etc there

My nieces and their friends are into making candles, jewellery (especially earrings) and refrigerator slices (melt and mix method) that they consume after they've completed their candles and jewellery.

I second the dying / bleaching t.shirts or tote bags, that seems to be very fashionable.  To save costs you could ask all the guests to bring along an old t.shirt or pair of jeans (assuming they have permission to do so!) to revamp them.  There was a great post the other day of 'space pants' by MidoriMentality, that I'm sure many teenagers would love.

Just remind them to bring some junky, comfy clothes to wear so they don't ruin their clothes if they make a mess - and provide lots of rags, old towels, and cover your surfaces!  Or do it outside!
