I didn`t mess mine up!! So, you wont mess up yours!  The only thing I`d caution, is be careful about getting stain into the holes where the treadle bar goes. It`s taken A LOT of oil to keep that from being sticky.... but it`s been a rather humid summer here, which may have made a difference.
