Yippee!  So much production in this thread!  Is it bad that I made extras of two of the items I'm sending, just because I wanted them for myself!?    Grin  Quick question - hopefully folks will see this.  I am at a point where one item can be either left as is and be a purely decorative piece, or taken another direction to functional.  So my question to all you FOCs is:  functional art or art for arts sake, which do you prefer?

I love functional art. I strongly prefer usable items. Unless it is actual wall art. I like that. And its function  is art. So its not strictly art for art's sake. Ramble?

Art for arts sake that goes on the wall is fine. Art that has to go on a surface, such as a table, would be better if it was useable, because I am running out of space.

However, GlassKicker, all the above goes out the window if you are my partner because I've always loved items made of glass and I love your work! Grin

Usually I prefer functional over purely decorative, but there are a few exceptions that I can think of:  wall art, birds, gem trees, sun catchers.   There are probably more exceptions but those are what come to mind right now.   Smiley

Check in question.

I don't think I've taught someone a particular craft, but there's certainly been lots of times I've shared tips and ideas with other crafters and artists. I enjoy giving and receiving creative ideas - something I really love about craftster! Smiley

(sorry a bit slow on the check in, had a very busy week with working all through weekend and several different house guests ...)

Oh and GlassKicker's question -

I usually prefer functional, but enjoy beautiful treasures for their own sake too. So I'm no help at all really Wink
