I think knitted zippered pouches would be very interesting! 
Lace patterns, instarsia, entrelac, etc. are ways to 'embellish' the zippered pouches, no? 

This seems like a perfect first swap... gotta get my feet wet somehow!

Hmmm.  I do love zippered pouches, and this ships the same day we get partners for the quilt block swap, so it wouldn't technically be more than one swap at a time.  Embellishing isn't my strong suit, but I've been wanting to learn to applique, and I am the proud new owner of an embroidery machine that I have yet to use, so this might force me to learn...
