Do you guys think that adding onions and garlic to the cream of the pasta is a good idea? Been researching for some good recipes lots of them don't include those two though.

Suggestions are very welcome!

If you like onions and garlic, then add them for sure.  I rarely follow recipes as written.   Smiley

Unless you are baking, I normally think of recipes as more of a guide and to adjust according to your taste and ingredients you have on hand. So, sounds good to me!

Usually, I add garlic and onion cooked in butter to my cream sauces. Various herbs are added for different flavors, but I don't know what Carbonara is.

There are some things you can add to any savory dish - garlic and onions are two of them. Butter is another, but I watch my butter intake these days (sigh).
