I made this shrine for jennieingram during the Shrine Swap.  This was my large, forever fretting over, shrine challenge.  I had the idea for this shrine right off, but I worked on it until the last moment.  And I still feel I could have done more, but overall I was pleased with the results. Grin

A shrine to sewers who take that craft to their heart.  May the crafty gods smile upon you!

Let's see a overview of what I did here:  The base is a birdhouse with the front removed; it was then paint, crackled, and painted again.  I used mod podge to line interior.  The red person I made with a wire base which was then wrapped with red thread (unseen is a red fabric heart in the chest).  I wrapped the spools with thread (and stuck a pink one in the back so that it is not front & center, but still a reminder of me, pinkleo Cool).  Used tons of E6000 (I actually reached the end of a tube in this swap) to attach button roof and all the items I gathered.  Oh, there is a red frame in the back which has various sew items...scissors, jar of buttons, threader, etc.  The little needle & pin package on your right was one I found in my grandmother's sewing basket.  And at first, I had the person sewing at a table, but I didn't like that so I abandoned that idea (and the table I crafted); I then had the idea to have her clutching the sewing machine close to her heart.

I sometimes want to pick up and hug my sewing machine - especially when I mistreat it by sewing paper and other non-fabric things together.

So I love this.

This is super fun! I love how you used all the little notions & whatnots in the room. The thimble as a hat is my favorite part!  Wink
