DIY revolution

I crafted this little number out of the leftover fabric from this project:

I actually began the bottoms while I was still pregnant knowing that I'd need a higher waisted suit for the summer than the teeny bikinis of my past. I made the pattern myself and the fit isn't perfect, but I'm happy with it. If I use the pattern again I'll gather the side panels a bit more so that detail is more obvious. The top was a reconstruction, actually I just made the middle part and slipped it onto the pink top I already had so I would have something to model with the bottoms. The top band was added after trying them on and deciding they still weren't quite high enough (I had my navel pierced as a teenager and though I didn't have a visible scar prior to pregnancy, I now have a CRAZY scar where it was, which you can see a teeny bit peeking out.... oh, the folly of my youth.) I'm going to add a strap to the top to keep it up, if I get the chance.

1. You look amazing.
2. I love the idea of high-waisted bottoms.
3. The ruching is a great touch.
4. I think the band at the top looks really good, even if it was an afterthought.
