I made this for a swap, and now that my partner has received, I can post! I traced some Greek art onto this awesome paper and modpodged it to a papier mache box that I had altered so that the lid was hinged rather than a lift off type.  I used grosgrain ribbon to hinge it, and a small piece as a pull tab for opening.  I lined it with some pretty paper.  Here's a (VERY) brief synopsis of the Pandora story, for any who may not be familiar:  Pandora was a daughter of Zeus, sent to earth to be married.  Zeus gave her a box and made her promise never to open it.  Unfortunately, the mystery just got to be too much for her curious mind, and she took a peek, thereby releasing into the world all the evils known to humankind.  But left in the bottom of the box was a tiny little thing, called hope.  Hope flew out of the box to help combat the evils that had been set free.

On the top of the box is pictured a sphinx, who according to myth, would ask you a riddle, and if you got it wrong, it ate you.

The Greek lettering on the front means "do not open".

... and "hope", which was in the bottom of the box:

That box turned out awesome and I love that you put hope in there, literally. Not only a great box but a neat concept. Love it!!!
