Hi, I've been thinking about selling patterns online. I was wondering if I can sell patterns without pictures, like the only picture is of what the final product would look like. Or do I have to have step by step pics. Would people prefer picture heavy patterns? I'd like to hear your personal preferences please Smiley

I don't mind patterns that only have one picture. Unless the pattern includes a repeating sequence that might be better represented by a chart, simple text instructions are just fine and are very common.

I agree, one picture is usually fine with me unless there is something that is hard to explain in writing and pictures would work. I'm writing a pattern for a dragon right now and it has complex wings as I am trying to make them realistic and I wouldn't be able to write down how to make them. I'm thinking of taking pictures to show how to make them or maybe make a video tutorial for them.

I can't follow lacy patterns from a written pattern and prefer a graphed pattern. I wont look at a pattern if it does not have a picture of the finished product - how do you know what you are buying? But I will buy from a graphed pattern because the graph shows what the final product looks like.
Good luck selling Cheesy
