I recently got really into hand-painting eye chips for Blythe!

(I think I like the cat eyes the best, even though they're a little creepy.)

I was in the recent IYP swap with LesliesHappyHeart, and decided to experiment a lot with some chips so I could send her a unique assortment (or so I'd hoped) of iris choices for her Blythe dolls!

Here are just a few examples:

I layered glitter on some of them, just to see what would happen!

I think my dolls are happy to not have the icky orange and pink stock eyes anymore!

Aloha, and Thanks for looking!

Those are really cool M&C!  I really like the glittery ones!  Are those eyes easy to get in and out of those dolls?  I never knew you could change 'em like that.

Thanks!  It's not super difficult to change their eye chips... Basically, you can melt the end of a glue stick and stick it in their eye (ouch! Haha) and wait for it to cool.  Then you just twist and yank a little and they usually pop right out!  (Every now and then they can be a little harder to get out if the factory glue has created the perfect vacuum or something.). I just use a drop of tacky glue to stick in the new ones!

I've always been curious about doing this to my Blythe. Where do you find the eye chip blanks? You have so many great combos, it's hard to pick a favorite!

EEEEHHH!  I'm so jelly!  I am fascinated by Blyth dolls (totally the eyes of course) and they are on the top of my "hope I find one some day at a yard sale or some such", or one of the first things I order "when" we win the lotto.  And now you have made me want one even more!  I love the first set Grin

I get mine from Coolcat (on ebay, but also have their own somewhat confusing website), but if you search "clear blythe chips" you can usually find them!

Suereal, it's my dream to one day find them at a rummage sale or thrift store too...so expensive!

Yes, these are great, I love the ones you sent me! I had been holding off changing the eye chips in several of my Blythes because I was pretty sure I would be getting some from you in this swap, so I will change them out this week. My faves are the very glow-y iridescent ones, and the ones with glitter.  Thanks again Sara!
